It is known that David will be performing ‘Permanent’ this Wednesday on the American Idol Finale. ‘Permanent’ was a song featured on David’s self-titled debut album that was released last November, it was co-written by Raine and was known to be dedicated to his brother Adam. The single will be released on iTunes on May 20th to which all proceeds will go to charity. In addition the charity that this will be supporting is one that David recently set up a couple of weeks ago for Adam, for brain tumor research. So don’t forget to support David by purchasing his single on iTunes and tuning into watch American Idol this Wednesday.
In the midst of a busy tour schedule, David Cook is planning to take a break – well, technically a run – for a cause close to his heart on May 3 in Washington, D.C.
Cook, 26, whose brother Adam has been battling brain cancer for over a decade, will serve as grand marshal in the Race for Hope 5K, which benefits brain cancer research, and run the race as part of a team he set up – which has already raised more than $40,000.
“He wants nothing from us at all,” says race co-chair Jeff Kolodin, who contacted PEOPLE with the story. “This transcends fame and money and everything else. He just wants to help the cause.”
Cook is happy to skimp on sleep to do so: Last year’s American Idol winner will leave his West Palm Beach, Fla., concert Saturday night, May 2, and fly in to D.C. around 3 a.m. Sunday, only to wake up four hours later. Then, after a day at the race, he’ll hop another flight to his next tour stop.
But the sacrifice is well worth it. “The opportunity to become involved in such a worthwhile cause is paramount for me and my family. I don’t run normally, but it seems a small sacrifice compared to what those who have fought cancer have endured,” Cook tells PEOPLE. “And the fact that my fans have rallied to raise so much in donations is the biggest compliment.”
Tune in Wednesday morning to the Rocket & Theresa Show on Mix 93.3 as they will start giving away 5 HER LIFE Magazines with David Cook’s autograph!! Another 5 autographed magazines will be donated on air to the American Cancer Society - the charity that is so close to David’s heart!
Martha Stewart is auctioning Christmas ornaments signed by a load of celebrities, from David Cook to chef Emeril, to benefit Taste of the NFL (a program that helps the hungry and homeless).
The eBay auction runs through December 12. So far the highest bid is $510 for one of David Cook’s autographed balls.

David sang “Heroes”, “Life on the Moon”, “Light On”, “Lie”, “Bar-Ba-Sol”, “Mr. Sensitive”, and “Declaration.” He talked a lot between songs and the audience screamed like crazy.
“Christmas in Rockefeller Center” is a star-studded, live broadcast from Rockefeller Center in New York City and celebrates the lighting of the world’s most famous Christmas tree on December 3, 2008. The special will include a popular musical lineup celebrating the current hits and favorite holiday music from the world of entertainment. Confirmed talent so far includes David Cook, Leona Lewis, Faith Hill, Tony Bennett, Harry Connick Jr., and Rascal Flatts.

American Idol David Cook took time out of his busy schedule to write about his experience with the Stand Up 2 Cancer event Friday night. The star-studded telethon raised money to fight cancer during a broadcast aired simultaneously on ABC, NBC and CBS.
Cook has a brother, Adam, fighting cancer. He sports Adam’s initials on his guitar. And, he teared up following an American Idol performance when Adam was in the audience.
Many David Cook fans have also taken up his fight against cancer. And, Cook thanked them for participating in Friday’s telethon.
He wrote, “Thank you guys from the bottom of my heart for all the support you’ve shown with this. It means the world to me and I’m glad to see everyone rally up.” Cook went on to say “Let’s do what we can to make sure that it’s not just about tonight, but everyday.“
Cook also posted video of his recent visit to Kansas City and Blue Springs, Missouri on his official web site. The video shows the unveiling of a mural to honor Blue Springs native David Cook, and Cook’s tearful reaction.
